Niagara Youth Justice Committee
The mission statement for Youth Justice Services is: to
contribute to the creation of safe and vital communities through
effective and innovative supervision of young persons in community
and custodial settings.
The mission statement of PORT CARES, the lead agency responsible
for administering the Niagara Youth Justice Committee is:
a community organization whose aim is to facilitate efforts
to improve the quality of life for the residents of Port Colborne
and region by undertaking initiatives and by responding to
the identified community needs.
Society, as a whole, has a role in prevention and a responsibility
to address the developmental challenges and needs of young
persons. Communities and families should work in partnership
with government and other stakeholders to prevent youth crime
by addressing underlying causes, responding to the needs of
young persons and providing guidance and support.
Local communities have a responsibility to provide safe and
accessible services and programs at all stages of child and
youth development. The Niagara Youth Justice Committee is
that service for the youth of the Niagara Region. The Niagara
Youth Justice Committee actively seeks to hold youth accountable
in an appropriate, timely and restorative manner.
Citizens interested in volunteering for the Niagara Youth
Justice Committee are asked to contact PORT CARES at 905-834-3629
ext. 242.
