
Norfolk County is a municipality of 61,000 located on the north shore of Lake Erie in Southwestern Ontario. Located between Elgin County and the new Haldimand County, Norfolk is a restructured municipality consisting of a number of smaller towns and townships including the former Townships of Norfolk and Delhi, Town of Simcoe, and part of the former City of Nanticoke.
Combining urban and rural life, Norfolk County offers recreation, shopping and investment opportunities. The popular provincial Highway 3, known as the Detroit-Buffalo corridor passes through the municipality. Highways 24 and 59 connect residents and industry to Highways 401 and 403.
Norfolk's economy is varied, from strong agri-business enterprises to manufacturing to tourist resorts.
The County of Norfolk is located on the north shore of Lake Erie bordering the Elgin, Oxford, Brant, Haldimand communities. The area is predominantly rural with 6 small urban centres scattered throughout the county.
There are approximately 25,000 households in the area. Approximately 12% of the local population were born outside of Canada with approximately 11% having a mother tongue other than English. The French speaking population accounts for approximately 1.1% of the total population.
