Youth
Justice Ontario represents over 50 agencies province-wide
providing services to youth involved in the youth justice
system. Agencies provide a spectrum of services which
range from prevention and early intervention programs
to community aftercare.
Justice
4 Youth
Justice4Youth is dedicated to informing youth about
their rights and the issues that affect them, such as racism,
politics, and international justice. The site deals
with the youth criminal justice system and with justice
as a way of life -- having the right to live freely
and safely. Justice4Youth is supported by the John Howard
Society.
St.
Thomas University Centre for Research on Youth at Risk
Despite the interest in this area of social policy, there is currently no recognized research centre
for youth-at-risk. Scholars from the departments of
psychology, education, social work and criminology have
joined forces with some experts from neighboring universities
to create a scholarly synergy focusing on the risks
and needs of youth as they move from adolescence to
young adulthood. The issues connected with youth include
youth crime, drop-out rates, safe school environments,
literacy, and homelessness, to name only a few.
Volunteer Canada is pleased to announce a new partnership with
the Department of Justice Canada. Together we are working
to build awareness and increase understanding of the
vital role that volunteers play in a new model for youth
justice.
